What can we learn through secondary research? What are we trying to accomplish and how will we measure our success? Propose a common vision, but prepare to have it change as we learn more. 

Talk to the people we are trying to serve. Search out and destroy our assumptions and bias and look for opportunities to magnify and empower bright spots. Build models of the people we’re trying to serve. Synthesize and make sense of what we learn. 

Ask, “what if?” “How might we?” Seek inspiration from each other, from the community. Start with dumb ideas and make them better. Combine and evolve. Ask, “How could this work?” Slowly converge on the most promising ideas. 

See what works and what doesn’t. Iterate. Go back to an earlier step with the advantage of having just learned something.
